The Really Useful Birth & Baby Course
The information, skills & people you need to approach birth & baby life with confidence.
Redruth-based group antenatal course suitable for anyone in their second or third trimester.
Are antenatal classes important?
Absolutely! But not all antenatal classes are the same & it’s so important to find one that works for you.
Quite simply, the right class can give you the information, the time and the space you need to get your head solidly into ‘birth & baby’ mode. And that can be a total game changer.
I speak from experience when I say that birth & baby life is totally unique to you: from the way your baby enters the world, to the way you feel comfortable raising them, everything is up to you.
But knowing you have a choice, and knowing what the options are… well, they’re two totally different things.
This face-to-face course won’t give you the personalised deep dive into topics like my private antenatal sessions will, but it is an effective, budget-friendly way of getting the basics you need to feel calm & confident as you approach birth & baby life.
Why should I do ‘The Really Useful Birth & Baby Course’?
Simply put, this course has been designed with you in mind. Not just your birth experience, but your preparation for it, the life you’ll live after it, and how you’ll feel at every single stage.
Unlike other courses, we’re not here to be fully comprehensive and as such we don’t require huge investments of time or money. If this is the only course you do, you’ll walk away with a toolkit equipped with the basic knowledge and skills you need to get going.
But we also make sure you know where to go IF you want more. And that’s why, on top of the three two-hour sessions, all sign-ups to this course get:
Useful & easy-to-understand colour hand-outs on everything we cover, featuring useful links & recommended reading to help you go further.
A private Whatsapp group to stay in touch with your course mates
A postnatal meet-up when all your babies have been born. (optional)
A direct Whatsapp line to me to ask questions & find out information until your labour begins*
10% off on any further antenatal packages or birth options workshops booked with me.
10% off any further scan package with Anya’s Ultrasound.
Reduced rate for any birth or postnatal doula package booked after this course.**
*office hours (9pm-5pm)
** Price of antenatal course to be deducted from total package cost
What does the ‘Really Useful Birth & Baby Course’ cover?
Often my clients ask the same ‘BIG’ questions: about birth, induction or caesareans, pain, recovery, feeding, sleeping…
These are so important to first-time parents, but often, they’re skimmed over in your short-for-time midwife appointments, or get lost within the vast content of larger courses.
That’s why this course is built around them.
Each of the three two-hour sessions has a specific focus, exploring things to help you understand what’s going on, what you can control and influence, and what you can do if things don’t go to plan using a balance of information sharing, practical activities & discussion to ensure that everything is engaging, relevant and - above all - useful.

Our group sizes are relatively small; our maximum class size would be six couples or birth teams.
We do this for a few reasons:
to keep the vibe nice and relaxed.
so that I get chance to talk to each team personally through each session.
So that we can use the space we have comfortably.
If the group size and dynamic is important to you, please get in touch. I’ll be able to advise a suitable class for you to book into.

All sessions take place at the Blue Lotus Therapy Centre, in Scorrier alongside Anya’s Ultrasound.
There is plenty of free parking on site.

Yes, absolutely. In every way possible!
I am a fully certified and FEDANT registered antenatal teacher.
I am a certified birth & postnatal doula.
I am a highly qualified classroom teacher with 14 years experience.
Not only that, but every session is delivered alongside Anya, a Specialist Nurse Sonographer, with qualifications in Nursing and a background in newborn care.
Are we midwives or obstetricians? No. But we know this.
-
The course is booked as a block of three sessions and individual sessions are non-transferrable or refundable.
There may be the opportunity to catch-up a missed session privately at an agreed extra cost, availability dependent, at my discretion.
-
This course is practical in nature and you will have lots of opportunities to practice things that will help you on your birth & baby adventure.
However, this course DOES NOT feature practical elements involving nappy changes, bathing and other hands-on baby care activities due to resource and space restrictions.
If you wanted to include these in your antenatal preparation, I recommend using your discount entitlement to book some private sessions with me, where we can do those activities in your own home.
